My exs would say I am perfectionistic, don't give enough flattering comments to satisfy his need to feel worthy, and am 'controlling' (so what did you expect from a project manager). IN other words lead, follow, walk beside me and help or get out of the way. I like to get things done, not 'try' to get them done. My friends, on the other hand, would call me responsible,10der, compassionate, giving, hard working, loyal, and occasionally a pain in the butt (Not that way) as well as sometimes playful in an innocent childish and mischevious way. I have made my life what it is and healed many wounds over the years. I have worked hard. I am seeking others to share their experience and the future - proceeding honestly, intimately and with integrity. Say what you mean and do what you say.I am pretty knowledgeable about myself and what I want. Now if I can just find it. AS for 'activities', I don't own a decent TV (update: bought a new1 - for the kids of course...lol....and this is called justification) but do enjoy the sappy or funny gay romantic comedies, cooking, camping (tents .. not queens), home renovation, cabins (hope to build my own some day), blazing winter fires (in the fireplace-not the oven), the beauty of pristine outdoor nature like that found in Grand Marais, romantic dinners, lazy sat / Sun mornings in bed, fresh fallen snow, a warm bed on a cold night, sweatshirts and shorts with warm woolly socks in the fall, sailing (don't know how), seafood, most foods, CHOCOLATE, Coffee......enough 4 now. If you come with excess baggage, please choose your favorite pieces and leave the rest behind. Choose your battles. Please appreciate my oddities (otherwise they will drive you nuts), let me be myself, be yourself, see how my traits have helped me survive and thrive....I will offer you the same consideration. I am fairly well educated but also Love the beauty and simplicity of the country and outdoors. I can cook pretty well....after coming in from a day of cutting wood with the chainsaw & axe. I love a nice comfortable safe home (my refuge) but also want someday to build my own timberframe home (do you even know what that is?). I can be very sensitive and very demanding when needed. I drive both a car and an Old truck. It works. They are 'serviceable' as my grandfather would say. I have some pet peeves (LOL). I'll share a Few. I don't believe in telling someone they "shouldn't feel that way." I find it disrespectful. I dislike shallow people and cheap fake modern things and 'quick fixes.' I'm not much of a TV person but I might like reading while you enjoy your show. It makes me crazy when someone says1 thing and then Acts in a way that is contradictory. Honest, Sincere, funny, Direct ... Nice person who tries to do the right thing. I have a career I truly enjoy and family and friends that I appreciate. I believe all relationships require work and that it is important to accept the people in my life for who they are. In doing so, I expect the same in return. I try not to be judgmental and have little tolerance for judgmental people. I don't do the club scene and rarely go to bars. I've done it and at this point in my life I have no desire to do it again. I like to cook, go to the theater, museums, long ski weekends, dinner with friends and travel. I'm much more likely to go to the same restaurant that I like than seek out the newest or hottest scene. It is an amazing feeling for me to walk through a European city by myself and take it all in, and pretty nice to do it with someone special. So what am I looking for? Hmmm Physical prefection (at least by "gay" standards) has never done it for me. I don't care about body fat %. It's something else: his masculinity, his charm and passion for life, his sense of conviction to his values and beliefs, his confidence, his ego in-check, and genuine sincerety for want of something larger than himself. Also important for me is to find someone who is funny, honest and not looking to play games. He is serious about finding the right person, and willing to do the work. I'm pecking out this personal to see if there are other "plain ole joes" such as myself who wonder how to meet other guys without having to go the usual bar/cruise route. I have been-plimented all my life, but at 43, still single. Being single is not why I'm submitting this personal. I'm doing so to hopefully meet guys who are gay, but not queens, barflies, nelly, TV's... or wanting to be anything other than who they are. Guys who are just guys that are into men. Sure it would be nice to meet someone special, but at 43, I learned the difference between lust, infatuation and love. I'm open to toy with any of them, as long as we know where we stand with each other. But again, it would be nice to meet some guy, give us a chance to get to know1 another, then decide which of the roles are to follow. Personally, I could probably get into having a relationship, if the interest were mutual. Having someone that I want to wrap my arms around would be great.
